Guidelines for Setting EV Charging Stations
A public EV charging station requires around 500 sq. ft. of space to park 3-4 cars simultaneously. Charger Type – 3 Fast Charger, 2 Small Charger (CCS – 60kW, CCS – 60kW, Type 2 AC – 7/22kW, Bharat DC-001 – GB/T, Bharat AC-001)
- The Government of India has made it compulsory to set up an EV charging station every 3 kms in the cities, 25 kms on the highway, and 100 kms on highways for heavy-duty vehicles.
- The Government of India has made it license-free for any individual to set up an EV charging station in India following the guidelines of the Power Ministry of India.
Key Highlights of the Guidelines and Standards
- At least one EV charging station shall be available in a grid of 3 Km X 3 Km. Furthermore, one EV charging station shall be set up at every 25 Km on both sides of highways/roads.
- Public EV charging stations would be required to tie up with at least one online Network Service Provider to enable advance remote/online booking of charging slots by EV owners.
- Through open access, public EV charging station or chain of EV charging stations may obtain electricity from any power generation company.
